VIDYA’s First Sanskriti Festival
A Pan-VIDYA Annual Event 2020-21
VIDYA believes that every child is unique and has his/her own talent and potential. While nurturing the talent, we also ensure that every child is a winner in academics as well as performing arts for holistic learning.
Our Founder, Rashmi Ma’am, wanted to conceptualize an event that captures the culture and traditions of our rich heritage. Students from different linguistic backgrounds participated. Not just Hindi and English but also Marathi, Urdu and Kannada languages were given equal importance.
Sanskriti event was planned especially during this time to not only provide a platform for our students to showcase their talent but also use this as a positive diversion to tackle the tough Covid phase. It was an enlightening performing arts event for students from class I to Class XII, youth, women and staff members across VIDYA.
Participants were appreciated for their talent and a platform was given for them to launch themselves into a confident future.
VIDYA brought an opportunity to discover fresh talent. There were three ways one could participate. One could either submit a write-up, create poem or art of one’s choice.
The contest was open for all and a way of finding one’s own personality. With the contest being completely digital, it was extremely simple to register and submit one’s entries in all categories.
The categories were

Age groups was divided for all the competitions.
Category 1 : Primary – Age 7-10 years
Category 2 : Middle – Age 11-14 years
Category 3 : Senior – Age 15-18 years
Category 4 : Adult- Age 19+ Teachers, Leaders & Staff members
General Guidelines for the Competition:
- The competition was for individuals not teams.
- Students could participate in all three categories. Not more than one entry in each category was accepted.
- We encouraged children to celebrate innovation and creativity.
- Entries could be multi lingual – English/Hindi/ regional language.
- Themes could be shared in all categories. They could share their creativity and abstract thinking apart from themes given.
- In order to ensure that judging was impartial the author’s name was not to appear anywhere on the text.
- The judges’ decision was final and no independent correspondence was entered into.
Certificate of Participation
- We provided electronic certificates to all participants of the competition. Certificates were sent to each participant after the announcement of results.
- Certificate of participation was given to all.
- The winning entries in each category received a certificate of excellence
Prizes
- Amazon Gift Voucher will be given to all the winning entries
- Coffee Table Book (soft and hard copy) will be designed incorporating the designs and writings of all winners and participants.
- Winners will be mentored by experts to pursue their talent.
Felicitation Ceremony VIDYA Sanskriti Fest Event Winners 2020-21
Manorma Sharma was born on 5th October 1925, at Ambala into a distinguished military family. She was a border for ten years at All Saints College, Nanital and later did her Master’s course at the Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai.
She was married to then Major A.P. Sharma of the Indian Artillery (who retired as a Brigadier) and has three children- Anirudh, Rashmi and Kiran. She constantly worked with the Army wives Welfare association and was known for the events organized. A devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and a great grandmother Manormaji was dedicated to the family.
She wrote her first poem when she was five and continued till, she was 87. She remembered and recited them with great enthusiasm and pride. Her poem shared her experiences of India’s freedom movement and express her patriotism about Quit India Movement. An enthusiastic sports women, performer and artist, she loved reading, doing crosswords and master at scrabble! A great leader and a complete optimist with a sharp wit and always full of humor that inspired everyone she met.
Sharing glimpses of her work by ‘Cuckoo’ poem, as she was affectionately known by family and friends, had many talents and achievements.

VIDYA celebrated its first Pan India Sanskriti event on a virtual platform with enthusiasm. An eye-catching event called Sanskriti was held to capture the culture and traditions of our rich heritage. Through this event the students, teachers and staff members of VIDYA were given a platform to showcase their talent and also use this as a positive diversion to tackle the tough Covid phase. Students from different languages, not just Hindi and English, participated however, Marathi, Urdu and Kannada languages were also given equal importance. To honour the exceptional achievers of Sanskriti fest in prose, art and poetry, a virtual felicitation ceremony was hosted by VIDYA’s Founder President, Mrs. Rashmi Misra in the memory of her mother Shrimati Manorma with the aim of promoting excellence in arts which plays a predominant role in a student’s life. She recited some of her mother’s poems and shared her experiences. Her mother instilled the importance of such cultural values in their lives, elevated confidence and also taught her how to handle various challenging situations.
This helped her to understand different cultures and explore their sensitivities and finer nuances. In her address, Founder President, enlightened the students about the essential tools that each student should carry as they continued with their onward journey in life; these tools being individual uniqueness, faith in life, acknowledgment of the gift of creativity, making positive choices consciously and gratitude built on optimism and inspiration. She acknowledged the efforts of the students and teachers who put their best foot forward in making this event a stupendous success. She also expressed her heartfelt gratitude to all the parents and teachers for being a pillar of strength and support during all times.
The occasion was presided over by the honourable Guest Speaker, Mrs. Kiran Bhatia who is a sister of Mrs. Rashmi Misra. In her address, she expressed her appreciation and congratulated the students for their outstanding performance. She emphasised on a mother-daughter relationship being the strongest of all, a mother being a role model who teaches her daughter how to live and cherish life. She expressed how her mother raised both sisters to be bold and fearless, standing tall and showing the world what they were made of, inspiring them to push boundaries and pursue their dreams. She was delighted that VIDYA is nurturing such brilliant and talented students through Sanskriti and is opening doors for children to pursue their talent in art education.
The judges were accorded a warm welcome by the Founder President, Mrs. Rashmi Misra. The Judges Dr. Punam Kashyap, Ms. Sangeeta Gupta and Mrs. Kiran Rao also shared their experience of judging the different categories and graced the occasion with their esteemed presence. The judges spoke highly about the dedicated approach of VIDYA towards achieving excellence through this event and promised to mentor students through their expertise to perform better in the next fest. They encouraged them to take the initiative in various forms of art and critically evaluate their work.
Prize Distribution and Vote of Thanks
More than 4000 VIDYA students participated, with the help of judges 600 entries across all the mentioned languages were shortlisted in different categories of prose, poetry and art. The students of the respective categories in their speeches expressed their deep sense of gratitude towards the teachers and pride to be part of VIDYA.
The programme concluded with the closing remarks and vote of thanks by Ms. Dilruba Kalsi, Executive Director.

We thank you for your overwhelming response, the flagship event has been a roaring success and VIDYA will conduct such festivals every academic year.
