VIDYA @ Mali Foundation has been operating at Mali Foundation since July 2012, and the premises serve as a go to place for education in the widest and holistic sense of the term. Mali Foundation has lighted up the lamp of learning and thus brightened and transformed the lives of thousands of women in and around the vicinity and in this COVID year has been instrumental in reaching far and beyond, thanks to virtual mode of education. VIDYA in association with Mali Foundation offers literacy and vocational training programs for women with optimal utilization of the first floor of Mali Shelter. Since the onset of the partnership on July 2012, the centre has benefitted women in more ways than we can think of – 2200 women registered for training from 2012-2021; More than 50% of the women are earning through self-employment and wage employment; More than 550 college students have benefitted from spoken English and computer classes; 1000 certificates were awarded on training completion during the period 2016-2021.

 

MALI VIDYA through the Bhagini Women Empowerment program helps underprivileged young girls and economically challenged women to sustain, challenge and lead a better life; enhancing the standards of living, their family and thereby the society, by offering training and imparting skills to empower them in different disciplines all under one roof. The centre has become a haven for women and girls who are from the lower income strata. The centre provides training in Spoken English, Computer basics and advanced with NIIT & Intel certification, NIOS, Nursery Teachers’ Training, life skills, yoga and vocational skill training like tailoring, catering, block printing, embroidery and creative arts. The beneficiaries who attend the classes at Mali are constantly encouraged to enroll and engage themselves in courses and curriculum that are vital to build confidence, capability and self-esteem so that they could be contributing citizens of the society.  The beneficiaries include government college students, school students, housekeepers, house maids, housewives, single women, single parents, women and girls from the not so privileged sections of the community.

The learning is curated to make a difference in their lives by encouraging the right attitudes, instilling confidence and skills, imparting knowledge that gets them out of their cocoons and urge them fly high and past their imagined horizons.
