Bal Vihar School, New Delhi
Vidya’s pioneering primary school program that has been serving children from low-income households
Brief History
From the Amphitheatre at IIT Delhi in 1985 to a dedicated school in Panchsheel Park, The Bal Vihar School is Vidya’s pioneering primary school program that has been serving children from low-income households in the vicinity by helping them take their first steps toward a transformed, more empowered life. Aligning its mission with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, with emphasis on Good Health and well-being, Quality Education, and Gender Equality, the VIDYA Bal Vihar School has been committed to educating underprivileged children from marginalized communities for over three decades now.
About Bal Vihar
With state-of-the-art amenities such as Smartboards and a Computer lab, the institution delivers a comprehensive curriculum tailored for children aged nursery to grade 5, integrating elements of Sanskrit, cultural studies, music, dance, health education, and sports. The school offers child-centric learning and counselling for kids and their families, opportunities to explore extracurricular activities early on, and nutritious breakfast and lunch meals.
Extra-curricular activities
At the heart of the Bal Vihar Program is a nurturing and robust connection between students, faculty, families and communities - all of which come together to foster a future of social, emotional and academic proficiency. This support and collaboration have empowered countless alumni to pursue higher education at premier institutions like Lady Shriram College in Delhi, leaving an enduring legacy for future generations.
Scholarship
Students who graduate from Bal Vihar Class 5 are then encourged to enrol in regular schools. Although we do get concessions for fees and books, the children's parents cannot always afford the tuition fees and other expenses. We have been providing scholarships to our young class 5 graduates to help them complete their schooling.
